TV Setup with Govee Smart Lights

As you may know, I announced that I was taking a break from my freelance tech work to focus on more personal things going on in my life; moving to my own place was the major thing. This is one of the things I worked on after moving, and it turned out pretty great. I wall-mounted my 65" Hisense 4K Smart TV and included Govee Smart Backlights.

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, but I never had my own place to do it, so I made it my goal to make it happen.

The process overall was pretty easy; it only took me about 2 hours, including all the measurements and getting placements just right. This page is dedicated to explaining the process and showing how I accomplished it.

Originally, I was going to record the entire process and upload it to YouTube, but the camera did not want  to cooperate at all.

Before I started, I had to make sure everything was here and ready. Some things got switched out for better versions

Originally, I was going to use the in-wall cable method that would hide all cables behind the wall, but I couldn't due to the cable lengths were not long enough.

That's everything included in the project. Feel free to contact me with estimates and schedule your TV wall mounting project(s)

Alright, let's get into the project, I don't have very many images for it, but I will show the ones I do have. The first thing I had to do was use my laser to get the exact center of the wall marked.

After I got the marks set, I just needed to mark where the mount points would be for the wall plate.

Now that the base plate was up, it was time to unbox the TV and get the Govee light strip on. I also like to get any cable connections before the TV is mounted, just to make it easier when finishing up the job.

As you can see in the image, I have the following finished:

- The wall mount brackets connected

- The light strip adhered, and the Govee camera is ready

- The HDMI and AUX cables are connected

- The TV antenna is ready

Up next was mounting the TV and the speaker bar. This was easy since the wall mount was just setting the TV on it, no screws or bolts to tighten. The speaker fits perfectly under it, and I added a USB reader (left to the speaker) so I can plug devices in without going behind the TV. I also routed all the cables through the cable raceway to give the setup a clean look to it, luckily, this raceway clicks to attach and separate so adding and removing cables will be a breeze.

Now was a tricky step: calibrating the Govee light camera. This was tricky because all the lights needed to be off to reduce glare into the camera, and I had to attach the included orange calibration squares. The app was a bit difficult to understand at first but I managed to get it all calibrated.

Now that all the heavy lifting and calibrations were out of the way, it is time to test the lights. I just found a video on YouTube and let it run. The audio, picture, and light quality are fantastic on this setup, and it feels like a theater without the crowd.
