I built a home server

This is a project that I decided to do because I was going through some of my old tech and noticed that I had just about everything for a home server, and the only parts I needed were RAM and a CPU fan.

The parts involved are the following:

  • Proxmox Operating System

  • Rufus—Bootable drive software

  • Asus H110 motherboard

  • Intel Core i7-7700 CPU

  • 8GB DDR4 3200 RAM

  • Corsair 1000W power supply, fully modular

  • Seagate 8TB hard drive

  • 500 GB hard drive (for the operating system)

  • Uphere 120 mm fan

  • UPS Battery Backup

  • Basic keyboard

I had 2 sticks of RAM, but the motherboard has a bad RAM slot.

Overall, it took about a week to put together due to the mounting process, a restart in progress due to a system bug, and learning how to set up files and software in Linux.

Here's what it looks like so far:

As of now, it's just a prototype and will eventually be upgraded into a cabinet server in the future with more power and storage.

Once I have R.I.S.E. completed, I will be able to install it onto the server, which will allow it to be more than just a computer program.
